Have these ready before movers call
Movers price from the same few facts. Having them ready gets you firmer quotes.
- Size of each section
- Width and length from the HUD data plate or title. Width decides permits and escorts.
- Year built and HUD label
- The HUD certification label (a small metal plate on the back of each section) and the data plate inside.
- Title and paperwork
- Proof you own the home. Park moves may also need a release from the park office.
- What is attached
- Decks, porches, carports, additions and skirting all have to come off before the move.
- The new site
- A level pad or piers, a route the truck can turn into, and utility hookups ready.
- Road to the site
- Narrow lanes, low wires, tight turns and soft ground on the way in. Tell movers early.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to move a mobile home in Little Rock?
HomeGuide puts a full-service move (teardown, transport and setup) at about $5,000–$8,000 for a single-wide, $8,000–$15,000 for a double-wide and $12,000–$20,000+ for a triple-wide. Transport only is $1,000–$2,000, $2,000–$3,500 and $3,000–$5,000. Escorts, permits and site work are added on top. Use the moving cost calculator for your home.
Do I need a permit to move a mobile home in Arkansas?
Yes, for most homes. Under ARDOT rules a home wider than 8 ft or longer than 60 ft needs a special permit for each single movement on state highways: $17 for units up to 16 ft 6 in wide and $150 above that. No permit is issued for units over 18 ft wide. Movers normally obtain the permit.
Will my move need escort cars?
On two-lane and other non-divided highways, ARDOT requires one escort in front for units over 12 ft wide, and two escorts (front and back) for wider units. HomeGuide puts escort fees at $1.50–$3.50 per mile.
Can my older mobile home be moved?
Often, but check first. The HUD Code has applied to manufactured homes built since June 15, 1976; older homes were not built to it, and the frame, axles and walls of any older home need a close look before a move. Try the move checker.
Who is allowed to set up the home at the new site?
In Arkansas, installing and anchoring a manufactured home is licensed work. The Arkansas Manufactured Home Commission requires installers to be licensed, and each installation gets a permit decal. You can check a company on the AMHC license search.
Can I move my own mobile home?
ARDOT rules allow owners to get a special permit to move their own home if it is no more than 12 ft wide, with acceptable insurance, title to the home and a pulling truck of at least one-ton factory rated capacity. Setup at the new site is still licensed installation work.
When can a mobile home travel on Arkansas roads?
ARDOT rules bar movement on Sundays, listed holidays and at night. Units over 12 ft wide may not use two-lane highways 7–9 a.m. or 3–5 p.m. (except Saturdays and mid-June to mid-August), and units over 16 ft 6 in may only move between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
